There is always something about a quirky novelty shoe that brightens up my day. These bunny flats by Kate Spade have been on high rotation since nabbing them this past Fall. I admit, at first although I loved them I was unsure exactly how much I’d wear them; but sure enough, I treat them as a neutral flat with a cotton tail and they make their appearance every so often.
These are comfy to boot with soft brushed suede and a fuzzy pom pom tail. Perhaps even cuter than the tail- the spade nose, the tiniest gold accent. The only unfortunate thing about these is that they are so light I can only wear them when it is completely dry outside, or indoors only. I know it is only January, but I can’t wait for spring to some so these can accompany me as I hop all around town.
Anyway, are you a novelty shoe fanatic or would you rather keep it classic and cool? Let me know in the comments below. Happy weekend!
Happy 2017 to all my readers! It has been a little slow going here with the end of holidays- I managed to get a little run down so I’m trying to take it easy until I get back to work and am launched back into sheer chaos. There is a LOT to look forward to in 2017 so hopefully I’ll be able to share with you as much as possible.
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to post first this year but what better way to kick off the new year with one of my latest (and favourite) designs.
I designed these back in October and they arrived somewhere near mid November. Do I even need to say that they have been in high rotation since? These made appearances at numerous Christmas parties, concerts and even joined me for super casual work days. If you haven’t figured by now, I love anything glitzy with sparkle. I mentioned years ago that I potentially might be part magpie. That still remains. There is absolutely no inspiration to this design other than the fact that one morning I woke up with a huge craving for bronze glitter. So, over breakfast, I sat down and simple made it happen. With subtle piping detail. Simple as that. But what do you think? They are easily one of my favourite and most comfy pairs I’ve designed. I know I’ll be reaching for them again and again.
Hope everyone’s 2017 has started out in style. All the best to you and yours in this new year!
Sneakers are continuing to trend. I would like to say that I have been a fan for the last 20 some years. I love sports, I love comfort, I love being athletic, I love being casual, I love wearing sneakers. Sneakers have always been in rotation in my wardrobe. Everything from gold and black suede Air Jordans from the fourth grade, to light up high tops in the first, to classic Chuck Taylors in every colour, to a closet full of DC and Etnies and everything imaginable in between.
While Adidas superstars continue to reign over the blogosphere (funny to think E was trendy 20 years before everyone else) I want to point out that there is another style that is entirely popular and one of my favourite alternatives:
I could never say if I am more of a Nike girl or an Adidas girl the same way I couldn’t decide if I prefer Manolos over Choos, but while everyone can’t seem to get out of their Superstar rut, I have to say that Nike’s Air Max Thea is a definite go-to of mine. I’ve owned this shoe in a selection of shades, ruined a pair at the baseball diamond after not having a pair of cleats on me to change into, work out in these, work in these and scroll through peoples shoefies in these.
The shape is very classic sneaker as opposed to everyone’s favourite Adidas design that is really not meant for doing much other than strolling round the city. The shoe breathes, the design is simple, it is comfortable and I always feel like I am just “keeping it real” when I throw them on. I love wearing them with leggings and a hoodie as much as I do with a plaid flannel and a denim jacket. They’re that unexpected girl kinda cool. Sometimes it is nice to just say straight up “this is a good shoe”.
So what is your favourite style sneaker? Are you all over the Adidas bandwagon or do your eyes light up when you see some flyknits on the wall? Whatever it may be, share in the comment section below.
A few date night goodies from a couple weeks ago. When I bought my Valentino Rockstud sandals last Winter (because as soon as the Spring lines hint at coming out in February, I am on it!) I knew they’d be versatile and that I’d be wearing them everywhere, but as I’ve taken them out again and again, I am beginning to realize to what extent I can mix, match, and wear them on my daily adventures.
Of course, black leather with any metallic hardware is an easy go-to and I am quite the sucker for gold detailing. The block heel is comfortable, the studs are edgy yet stunning and feminine and the over all structure of the shoe and the straps is very no-fuss and easy to style. I . Love. These. Sandals.
I picked out a little YSL treat shopping in Rome last July that has turned into my new staple black chain purse. In black pebbled leather it is soft to hold yet extremely durable and I don’t have to worry so much about any foolishness I may have while throwing it over my shoulder. I’ve removed the chain a fair few times as well, serving just as a clutch and I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. This is the smaller size than what you have probably been ogling on other fashion and street style blogs, but I purposely wanted something very small and elegant that I could even take out for any formal events I might have.
Anyway, I had been meaning to share this one for a while. If you are following me on Instagram you are probably far more up to date on my adventures and the general insanity of my life. What do you think of the black accessories? What is your go-to date night look?
Hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday morning and that life is good in general. I am contemplating bundling up to run errands in the snow (no sandals required this time…) Thanks for stopping by!
