OOTD: San Gimignano

2016-07-30-16-48-39

A couple weeks ago I spent the day exploring the Tuscany region and all the Italian culture it has to offer. One of the highlights of my trip was an afternoon spent in San Gimignano (San Jimmy-Meow-Meow), a medieval hill top town south of Florence. The town is not only known for its many towers, but for its world-famous gelato. Yup, that is right, the “Best gelato in the world” is made there.

So here I am, battling the heat in an off the shoulder Wilfred dress and my Gucci disco soho crossbody, looking for more gelato as I had just run out. Unfortunately there wasn’t any in the well, though perhaps it was for the best as I would have shamelessly attempted to steal it.

This is easily one of my favourite pictures from the trip and my favourite memories. While I loved exploring ancient ruins in Rome, there is something about medieval architecture and street art (there were faded out crests on the stone walls lining the towers) that just pulls at my heart strings. Probably because it is as close to a fairy tale I will get, or the knights who say “Ni!”

OOTD: feat. One Teaspoon

I love weekends. Who doesn’t? Time off work to (attempt to) relax, check things off my to-do list, spend time with friends, and perhaps most importantly, wear all the things I love that I could never get away with at work. Like these ripped jeans for example.

Last weekend I went out for an afternoon of shopping, lunching and of course, Starbucks with a friend. It was abnormally beautiful out for this time of year- 14 degrees is practically Summer weather here. So, embracing the gorgeous day, I opted for a few favourites.

So what was I wearing? My One Teaspoon Freebird II denim in blue blonde. One Teaspoon is quickly turning into a favourite of mine as far as distressed denim goes. These have a bit of a slouchy fit to them and are quite relaxed. I love the “make you look twice” type of distressing, it is not quite as heavily done as some of their other denim. Also there are zippers in the legs, something which I never thought I’d go for. This pair of jeans has an absolutely stunning wash and is so completely unique to my wardrobe I am loving every second I get to slip them on. Though they are a little big, I’d suggest to anyone to stay true to their own size.

I also took my Ferragamo Vara ballerina sneakers out for a stroll. I treated myself to these in a sale just after Christmas. The Vara ballerina sneakers are some of my absolute favourites design wise. I have a few pairs of them in different colours and am already thinking of more to collect. They are COMFORTABLE as heck, and still give off a polished-casual type look. In my opinion, one of Salvatore Ferragamo’s best styles, but just as a heads up, they run a tad small compared to other SF shoes, I have taken all of mine in half a size up.

I also brought out one of my favourite Louis Vuitton’s, embracing the sunny weather.

Not pictured: a sweater and silk tank both by Wilfred. Chanel aviator sunnies and my blue and silver Marc by Marc Jacobs watch.

Criss-Crossy Action, Michael Kors Goodness

mk alexiaI purchased these pumps from Michael Kors sometime ago at the beginning of Autumn. It was one of those things where I had looked at the shoe probably a thousand times online and in the store and it grew more and more on me. Really, the picture above doesn’t do much for them, they are definitely a shoe that needs to be seen on someone. I honestly tried them on for kicks. I thought that I might as well as I was trying on what seemed like fifty other pairs in the store, so I added them to the “try on” list. I am so glad I did. The balance between the soft black leather and embossed snake print is perfection, the criss-cross action across the top of my foot is eye catching, and the proportions of the shoe are well, perfect. I love wearing these pumps and always get lovely compliments when I do.

So now I want to hear from you, have you ever tried a shoe on to be pleasantly surprised? Or perhaps severely disappointed (that has happened to me a ton of times too!). I want to hear your stories in the comments section below!

Also, I hope everyone had a great week and is having an awesome weekend. I woke up pretty run down yesterday morning so I am making an attempt at rejuvenating this weekend. Whether I do or not, cross your fingers.

OOTD: Match Made in Heaven

I am trying my best not to get too carried away with living in boots and cosy knits too early because I know it will turn into my go-to uniform soon enough, but, part of me just can’t resist. It is like comfort food for me, but in the form of clothes. Comfort clothes? Not necessarily comfortable clothes (I’m the only girl I know that thinks walking in 5 inch platform boots is just as good as wearing flats) but something I am completely comfortable in. Make sense?

talk to my shoes

I’m not sure why I found it so absolutely necessary to snap a selfie before work one morning. I know I was excited about my new sweater and cosy accessories, oh, and the fact that I managed to tie my hair back in the perfectly chic yet completely undone manner. Anyway, I figured there is no better time for a selfie than seven a.m.

PS1 and Chelsea Boot

I also want to take a quick moment to state how pleased I am as to how perfectly perfect my chelsea boots from J.Crew match my trusty Proenza Schouler. Don’t you think it is a match made in heaven?
