Sneakers are continuing to trend. I would like to say that I have been a fan for the last 20 some years. I love sports, I love comfort, I love being athletic, I love being casual, I love wearing sneakers. Sneakers have always been in rotation in my wardrobe. Everything from gold and black suede Air Jordans from the fourth grade, to light up high tops in the first, to classic Chuck Taylors in every colour, to a closet full of DC and Etnies and everything imaginable in between.
While Adidas superstars continue to reign over the blogosphere (funny to think E was trendy 20 years before everyone else) I want to point out that there is another style that is entirely popular and one of my favourite alternatives:
I could never say if I am more of a Nike girl or an Adidas girl the same way I couldn’t decide if I prefer Manolos over Choos, but while everyone can’t seem to get out of their Superstar rut, I have to say that Nike’s Air Max Thea is a definite go-to of mine. I’ve owned this shoe in a selection of shades, ruined a pair at the baseball diamond after not having a pair of cleats on me to change into, work out in these, work in these and scroll through peoples shoefies in these.
The shape is very classic sneaker as opposed to everyone’s favourite Adidas design that is really not meant for doing much other than strolling round the city. The shoe breathes, the design is simple, it is comfortable and I always feel like I am just “keeping it real” when I throw them on. I love wearing them with leggings and a hoodie as much as I do with a plaid flannel and a denim jacket. They’re that unexpected girl kinda cool. Sometimes it is nice to just say straight up “this is a good shoe”.
So what is your favourite style sneaker? Are you all over the Adidas bandwagon or do your eyes light up when you see some flyknits on the wall? Whatever it may be, share in the comment section below.
Believe it or not, I’d honestly say that as of late, my most worn pair of shoes is actually my hot pink Nike running pair. I’m totally proud to say that too- as much as I know I could totally live in a pair of Ferragamo’s of any height as well.
I’ve aways been a very active person. I grew up playing nearly every sport imaginable, and dancing most days during the week. Now I find myself pretending/attempting to call myself a runner and attending yoga and zumba classes many days of the week. I’m also training for my first 5k race that is taking place in June. These are the shoes I throw on each time I’m breaking a sweat and I have to say they have been totally good to me.
Finding a good work out shoe can be a difficult thing. Identify the type of activity you are going to be taking part in and go from there. I admit that I should technically be wearing a different style shoe when I’m cross training (above are designed specifically for running) but I like how these feel and work the various muscles in my feet. Remember to change your shoes as needed- it is not like an excuse for new shoe shopping is ever a bad thing.
I’ve been noticing that I am indulging myself more and more into the world of sneakers. Perhaps it is the popularity of the whole athletic-leisure look right now or maybe I just am remembering how comfy a good pair of sneaks on my feet can be. I’ll never give up my sky-high heels or a pretty pair of ballerina flats, come hell or high water, but this whole sneaker thing, can actually look pretty chic. If done right.
What is your view on the athleisure trend? Are you for it or is it just too Kendall Jenner? Shout out if you are Kendall Jenner though, you shouldn’t be reading my blog any way, you probably have better things to do.
It’s actually more often than not that someone asks me why I love Hello Kitty so much. She’s a daring fashion icon- dressing as a strawberry, frog or a Parisian on holiday, is a world traveller and often can be seen flying the plane or hot air balloon herself, and, really is more of a success story than Oprah a thousand times over. Hello Kitty is a do-er. She has been to space, can drive a tank, dressed up as a lemon, had her own t.v. show, is the face on calendars, school supplies, frisbees, &c. and even my USB key.
All this said it should be absolutely no surprise that I am crazy for these shoes. OK yes they are sneakers and we can count the times on our fingers sensible shoes have appeared on this blog, but the more I ogle these, the more I love them perhaps even more than the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers…
Presenting to you some of my favourite Nike + Hello Kitty kicks!
I would SO actually wear the last 2 pairs- does anyone know where I can score some?
