Springing Ahead in these Boots

Apparently it is officially Spring. Looking out the window, I know that springtime in Canada also looks a lot like Winter, Fall, and one very freaky day in July years ago (Does anyone else remember when it snowed at the Calgary Stampede?!). So, in celebration of the new season, I’ve chosen this pair of beautiful ankle boots from Nine West that seems to be inclusive of all the seasons here in the Great White North.

Like I mention, these gems are designed by Nine West; what I didn’t get a chance to tell you is that I actually scored them at the end of last Summer, when all the Autumn designs were coming out. Pretty great right? Now I know that these pictures do the booties absolutely no justice but you have to believe me when I use the word stunning.

The velvet upper is extremely soft, the shoe fits true to size (I find that most Nine West shoes are true to size) and they are very comfortable to wear. Not to mention that with the colours of the velvet they are surprisingly durable, and really hide any grit and dirt you might pick up off the ground throughout the day.

Yup, these ankle boots are becoming a favourite pair of mine, more and more. And what is best, that an Autumnal boot has carried me through the tail end of Winter (I couldn’t wear these until I moved into my new place because they had to be packed up with the rest of my shoe collection) and into the Spring.

I really truly would recommend Nine West footwear to anyone who is looking for a pair of good quality, long lasting shoes but doesn’t want to break the bank too, too much. I’ve owned a ton of pairs and different styles over the years: boots to some of my favourite pairs of pumps, and even a couple pairs of flats. They just make good shoes and use good quality material. These floral booties are no exception.

What does Spring look like in your corner of the world? It seems that all across the globe, chillier weather has been making its rounds. How are you battling this with your footwear? I am on Winter boot strike now. I will just have to walk along the powdery sidewalk and across the ice in far less sensible footwear. Let me know in the comments below!

Six Runway Shoes At PFW That Made Me Look Twice

The marathon of fashion month is finally over and while following the whole ordeal quite closely, I chose not to cover the shows this year as they simply are accessible enough to everyone online and through social media that I didn’t feel the need to add myself to the list of people covering the catwalk. I’m at the point where, while it is nice to cover a few highlights or one particular show, if we need to really see whats going on, we’d go straight to the source.

However, while fashion month is about what it is named after- fashion, I feel that footwear can often be forgotten. Thus, I have found a beautiful excuse to share these gems that really caught my eye during Paris Fashion Week. So, without further adieu, lets just get to it:

Paris Fashion Week Shoes 2015

These embellished woven thick-heeled pumps at Celine. I love the how juxtaposed the crystal embellishment is against the woven body of the shoe. I could see these being worn so many different ways. Let’s keep an eye out for them!PFW-2015-Dior_1

Clear heeled, head turning boots at Dior. Ten bucks says Anna Dello Russo rocks these as street style sometime soon. I’d love to style these one day.
PFW-2015-Lanvin

The most perfect mid-calf python boots by Lanvin that I’d be wearing in an absolute heart beat. Mid-calf is one of my favourite boot heights because they make such a versatile look. Also, notice how they tie? Isn’t that great?
PFW-2015-Louis-Vuitton-_1

Pumps that play with tough-girl texture at Louis Vuitton. I really like these because they are so wearable. PFW-2015-Miu-Miu_1

The return of the glitter heel (with a twist!) at Miu Miu. Suddenly having the urge to wear sky blue with silver glitter. Also, look at the glory that is the contrast between the pointed toe and the shape of the heel. Bamn!PFW-2015-Stella-McCartneyAnd finally, unnecessarily beautiful, Baroque inspired boots at Stella McCartney. The embroidery and material is beautiful. I see these being paired so easily with a wispy maxi skirt or even a pair of boyfriend jeans.

What is your favourite pair of footwear from fashion month?

Free People: Breton Heeled Boot

Cutout boots are nothing new, and I admit that I haven’t been nearly crazy about the trend as most people, however, I found these Breton Heeled Boots by Free People a while ago and for once wasn’t completely opposed to the idea. I think the colour of this pair makes the cut of the boot seem less harsh than those we’ve seen when this design first started to emerge. Not only that, the cut out is at the back of the boot, and not done in a totally abstract manner. I think that this is a much more accessible pair and an easy way to take part in the style concept without having to feel like you have jumped “feet first” into the trend.

What do you think of cutout boots? Are you on board or are you a bit more skeptical like me?
