Sneakers are continuing to trend. I would like to say that I have been a fan for the last 20 some years. I love sports, I love comfort, I love being athletic, I love being casual, I love wearing sneakers. Sneakers have always been in rotation in my wardrobe. Everything from gold and black suede Air Jordans from the fourth grade, to light up high tops in the first, to classic Chuck Taylors in every colour, to a closet full of DC and Etnies and everything imaginable in between.
While Adidas superstars continue to reign over the blogosphere (funny to think E was trendy 20 years before everyone else) I want to point out that there is another style that is entirely popular and one of my favourite alternatives:
I could never say if I am more of a Nike girl or an Adidas girl the same way I couldn’t decide if I prefer Manolos over Choos, but while everyone can’t seem to get out of their Superstar rut, I have to say that Nike’s Air Max Thea is a definite go-to of mine. I’ve owned this shoe in a selection of shades, ruined a pair at the baseball diamond after not having a pair of cleats on me to change into, work out in these, work in these and scroll through peoples shoefies in these.
The shape is very classic sneaker as opposed to everyone’s favourite Adidas design that is really not meant for doing much other than strolling round the city. The shoe breathes, the design is simple, it is comfortable and I always feel like I am just “keeping it real” when I throw them on. I love wearing them with leggings and a hoodie as much as I do with a plaid flannel and a denim jacket. They’re that unexpected girl kinda cool. Sometimes it is nice to just say straight up “this is a good shoe”.
So what is your favourite style sneaker? Are you all over the Adidas bandwagon or do your eyes light up when you see some flyknits on the wall? Whatever it may be, share in the comment section below.
A few date night goodies from a couple weeks ago. When I bought my Valentino Rockstud sandals last Winter (because as soon as the Spring lines hint at coming out in February, I am on it!) I knew they’d be versatile and that I’d be wearing them everywhere, but as I’ve taken them out again and again, I am beginning to realize to what extent I can mix, match, and wear them on my daily adventures.
Of course, black leather with any metallic hardware is an easy go-to and I am quite the sucker for gold detailing. The block heel is comfortable, the studs are edgy yet stunning and feminine and the over all structure of the shoe and the straps is very no-fuss and easy to style. I . Love. These. Sandals.
I picked out a little YSL treat shopping in Rome last July that has turned into my new staple black chain purse. In black pebbled leather it is soft to hold yet extremely durable and I don’t have to worry so much about any foolishness I may have while throwing it over my shoulder. I’ve removed the chain a fair few times as well, serving just as a clutch and I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. This is the smaller size than what you have probably been ogling on other fashion and street style blogs, but I purposely wanted something very small and elegant that I could even take out for any formal events I might have.
Anyway, I had been meaning to share this one for a while. If you are following me on Instagram you are probably far more up to date on my adventures and the general insanity of my life. What do you think of the black accessories? What is your go-to date night look?
Hope everyone is having a relaxing Saturday morning and that life is good in general. I am contemplating bundling up to run errands in the snow (no sandals required this time…) Thanks for stopping by!
Every couple of seasons Isabel Marant releases a design that seems to make everyone in the fashion world go nuts over. Wedge sneakers, ankle boots of all types, and of course, the Soono boot that had everyone wrapped up in chains. It has been a couple of weeks now since Soono’s rerelease and the relaunch seems to be doing quite well. Spotted on models, fashion bloggers and anyone in between, the boot proves to be more versatile than believed.
I remember when the design was first released, sitting on the couch in my living room and having a little meltdown as a result of how outstanding I thought the design was. Something about the taupe pair with a hint of silver chain is perfect for my western roots. In the oddest sense, I see the pair on the left as a nice variation to a cowboy boot.
Anyway, what do you think? I know that this style, though newly rereleased, isn’t necessarily the type of design we see trending right now. Would you go back to this design? Or do you prefer to stay a bit more updated with your trends?
I’m basically obsessed with my new work bag. Kate Spade’s fox line from last year will forever be one of my favourites. The tote is huge beyond belief- it really is one of those bags that holds too much. Like, when it is completely full it probably weighs nearly as much as I do. But regardless, I love it. Also, it matches the mushrooms growing in my backyard, not just my fox flats from last autumn.
